engineering problem with the grill. This was $320.00 marked down to $129.00, so I assumed this was a good quality grill. This grill is on 2 wheels, making it movable by holding on to the tray and guiding it into place. The tray is attached by two screws and bolts to the body of the grill. When I move the grill, the thin tray edge cuts into my fingers, so I have to wear leather gloves. The worst part is that the tray, where it is attached by the screws, bows out when moved, leaving me to believe this is not braced enough and it will shortly break and be unable to move.
My favorite line of grills! This is my favorite line of grill. Easy to put together. I love the double rack. All of the bolts and nuts were in a package that was easy to use. I absolutely love the ceramic grill top! I’m so excited to get out and grill! This is my second grillmate grill. I’m a huge fan. they last forever.
First order got cancelled. My first order got canceled. No explanation. So I ordered it again because it looked like it was still available and the second time it was delivered. I’m glad it come because the side smoker came a week before. So now I have a complete smoker grill
Great grill but grill grates are rough. This is a solid beast, which was immediately apparent when it was delivered. The packaging indicated its weight as 79 pounds!
It was easy to assemble. Two people make this easier if one reads the instructions and the other executes. Two people makes the flipping over step easier also.
I have one observation though. Firstly the grill grate comes a four separate pieces — each one is about 8 inches wide. I do not anticipate this being an issue when cooking, but a single monolithic grate would make that concern moot.
More troubling is that the cooking surface of the grates is straight from the cast iron mold, and as such is VERY ROUGH. Before the seasoning process I smoothed these (4 grates) using an angle grinder with a 40 grit flap disc.
Leaving the cooking surface rough is an invitation for good to stick regardless of how much seasoning is done. Great grill
I love this grill. its a great value for your money. hot and fast cooks are a breeze on this grill but you are also capable of doing long smokes on this grill. the barrel shape makes it perfect for big cuts of meats like boston butts and briskets. can fit and smoke 2 racks of ribs easily.
The grill came with two left legs. I returned it and I am waiting on another one to be delivered. The assembly was difficult because the legs were not labeled. when I was attaching them that’s when I found out I had two left legs. I tried different configuration thinking I had it wrong but nope.
Fabulous Grill. We purchased this for our son for his birthday because my husband was so pleased with the one I’d purchased for him for HIS birthday. My son put it together and grilled on it the first day that he received it and has several MORE times. He continues to thank us for purchasing it for him. He and his wife are enjoying healthier menus cooked in this way without the kitchen mess and clean up after cooking.
After grilling the meat and any veggies over the mesquite wood or charcoal it is a GREAT advantage to keep foiled wrapped food warm on the upper shelf, and you can continue to grill other food on the main grill. It also aids if you want to allow your meat to cook on the bottom grill to get that great smoked flavor and outer browning, but let it cook slowly for moisture. LOVE IT!!
very durable charcoal grill. My wife and I put this together in about an hour and a half, the only problem we had was putting the screws through the legs into the grill, they stripped 3 of them did anyway they’re angled funny, other than that it’s a very heavy duty grill, the cast iron racks are beautiful, we’re going to make sure to take very good care of them so they don’t rust since cast iron is prone to rusting, can’t wait to use it on Sunday, thank you thank you thank you!
I owned a Char-griller about 10 years ago and they were great! solid build, came with everything you would need and it lasted me for years. This one will be lucky to make it a couple years. The grates are low quality, no tool to remove them when how and the whole grill is flimsy. You get what you pay for and would probably do better buying a Weber. I will next time.
Almost a keeper! Easy to assemble, took about 45 minutes, unfortunately after i assembled it i found that the grill grates were damaged, emailed the company, the grates are on back order so i had to return to walmart, which required me to disassemble it so it would fit in the box so another 45 minutes and then had to return and explain to the walmart associate why i was returning it, they understood and were helpful, but i can’t recommend this product, maybe i was just unlucky, price was good, but its worthless if you can’t cook on it! Seemed well made overall!
